Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Postsecondary education in agriculture, business administration, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
  • Supervisory or leadership experience, including managing work plans, coaching, training and development, leading staff in projects, recruitment, performance management and evaluation
  • Experience developing strategic plans, translating strategic priorities into clear operational sector and industry development plans and executing these plans
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to provide advice and recommendations to senior management
  • High degree of initiative and the ability to work independently to accomplish tasks
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong political acumen
  • Excellent written communications skills with the ability to write clear and concise documents for all levels of the organization and external stakeholders, including Briefing Notes, Treasury Board Submissions, Advisory Notes and strategic plans
  • Excellent verbal communication skills when speaking and presenting to internal and external stakeholders

Desired:

  • Good knowledge of the economic development environment in Manitoba

Duties:


The
Manager, Sector Development manages financial, human resources, programs and initiatives, and provides leadership to the section to enable and advance competitiveness and economic development opportunities for the agri-food industries at the industry level.

The position leads a team of industry development specialists who work with industry, department and government stakeholders to identify and enable strategic planning, growth opportunities and increased competitiveness of the agri-food industries.
