Accounting Specialist - Winnipeg, Canada - Eskimo Point Lumber Supply

Description

Reporting to the General Manager, Properties, the Accounting Specialist will oversee statement presentation, financial and data analysis, reconciliation and special projects.

• Calculate operating metrics and other internal measurements
• Analyze and investigate variances vs. budget, actual and prior year's results.
• Complete various other reconciliations and analysis of accounting and financial data, working collaboratively with Finance staff.
• Assist in the preparation of the annual budget
• Help maintain a strong internal control environment and respond to various queries
• Maintain detailed procedures for assigned tasks striving for organization and efficiency
• Complete special projects and non-routine assignments as may be required

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration preferred
• CPA or other professional designation preferred
• 10+ years of experience in a multi-layered, medium to large finance department
• Experience with financial reporting requirements
• Knowledgeable with creating financial statements, general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
• Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
• Strong interpersonal skills and customer service orientation
