SUMMARY:


The Routing Clerk is responsible for developing optimal route plans for all Vitran transportation commitments, providing drivers with fast, safe and fuel-efficient directions.

The Routing Clerk must remain aware of road and weather conditions, provide accurate and knowledgeable directions, and supply any needed assistance to drivers.

This individual will be responsible for keeping complete records of all route plans, maps and other necessary information. Other duties will be assigned as necessary.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Route shipments for delivery in the GTA. Ensure daily runs are cubed out and compliant with predetermined routing plans
  • Monitor hot accounts assigned for delivery
  • Ensure appointment and priority list freight is routed. Contingency plans to be effected for any exceptions
  • Assist with appointments/dispatch. May necessitate the calling of drivers to cover early AM deliveries
  • Print inbound National Trips
  • Assist with driver manifesting
  • Other general duties as required with training

WORKING CONDITIONS:


  • Required to split time between the dock and office
  • Hours 10pm
  • 6:30am, Sunday to Thursday
  • May require flexible hours from time to time

EDUCATION/TRAINING:


  • College degree in Business, Transportation, Logistics or related field or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary
  • Minimum of 2 years in the freight transportation industry
  • General knowledge of GTA city and streets
  • Basic computer and keyboarding skills, including good writing and spreadsheet skills
  • Excellent communication skills

$19.00-$20.00 per hour
