    Description

    Cofina is currently looking for an experienced and talented Google Cloud Expert Data Engineer (GCP) to join a dynamic and innovative BI team at our client. This is a key role within the Business Intelligence team supported by the Director of BI and Analytics. Permanent position located in Montreal.

    This person will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the data pipeline infrastructure on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Your expertise with GCP technologies and data engineering principles will contribute to the success of initiatives and empower people in business lines to make more informed decisions by having reliable data.

    Responsibilities :

    • Conceptualize and build data solutions on GCP using appropriate GCP services and technologies, such as BigQuery, Airflow Composer, Dataflow, Dataprep, Cloud Storage, etc.
    • Optimize data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, processing, and storage by ensuring a high level of data quality, performance, and data pipeline reliability.
    • Work with a close-knit team to design and build data pipelines to the data warehouse on a cloud-based platform primarily based on GCP (Google Cloud)
    • Collaborate closely with the data architect and stakeholders to define and implement models and schemas that support the company's reporting and analytics needs.
    • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior data engineers on data engineering principles on GCP.
    • Be involved in the preparation of estimates of data pipeline efforts in support of future BI and analytics projects.
    • Monitor and respond to issues with data and performance pipelines with infrastructure.
    • Identify, quantify and propose solutions that will address data quality and integrity challenges – source analysis, data profiling.
    • Stay on top of advancements with GCP and other data engineering technologies to improve efficiency and productivity.

    Requirements :

    • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or engineering in a data science or related field
    • 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in data engineering, in the design of ETL/ELT or the implementation and maintenance of data pipelines
    • Proven experience as a data engineer, focused on building data solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
    • Proficiency in Python, Scala, and SQL to develop and process queries.
    • Good understanding of data warehouse, ELT/ETL and data modeling concepts as well as data governance, security and privacy principles.

    YOUR ASSETS

    • 1-2 years of experience in the field of distribution.
    • Relevant experience with agile development methodology and version control systems such as Git and CI/CD pipelines.
    • Proficiency in Python, Scala, and SQL to develop and process queries.
    • Proficient in Word/Excel/Outlook/Syniti/MicroStrategy.
