    We are currently seeking a qualified Human Resources Advisor to join our HR team. This position will be based out of our Calgary downtown office with regular travel to domestic project site locations as required.

    The Human Resources Advisor will be responsible for supporting a Joint Venture (JV) project by providing consulting and transactional support to its project leadership team, construction teams, and corporate HR in handling a broad spectrum of human resources activities. The successful candidate will contribute to the success of the JV through utilization of their HR knowledge/experience, and participation in the proactive and practical implementation of programs and HR practices.

    The HR Advisor will provide HR support and advice to the project directors, client group of site managers/leaders, and employees in the areas of workforce planning, employee relations/investigations, employment law, performance management, and compensation.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide recruitment and onboarding support for all site positions.
  • Manage, coordinate, and communicate to corporate HR any site employee change events as it relates to workforce planning (mobilizations/demobilizations, transfers, promotions, terminations, salary changes, leaves of absence, relocations etc.).
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of site specific policies and process to drive continuous improvement.
  • Support the implementation of site HR specific deliverables and programs guided by corporate and client policies and procedures, including required reporting.
  • Conduct on-site training for employees and contractors as necessary.
  • Build strong relationships and credibility with all levels of the site project management team, client contacts, and employees/contractors.
  • Coach and support leaders on performance reviews, performance improvement plans, succession planning including development coaching and mentoring.
  • Implement and deploy site employee performance reviews and site contractor evaluations based on corporate performance management cycle(s).
  • Conduct employee relation investigations.
  • Coach leaders on terminations and ensure consistent use of termination practices and exit management guided by company best practices.
  • Assist with identifying any risks related to employee retention, succession planning, and project success.
  • Adhere to and promote the team project culture.

  • Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources is required.
  • Minimum of 7+ years directly related experience in a similar role is required.
  • Previous EPC or EPCM/joint-venture and/or site experience is preferred.
  • Ability to travel to project/client sites as required (up to 30% travel).
  • Available to work overtime when on site and as required.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills to effectively deal with multiple stakeholders and build solid client relationships.
  • Accountable with a results orientated mindset and the ability to handle multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Sound problem solving and influencing skills, coupled with an ability to understand broad Human Resource issues and resolve conflict situations in a diplomatic manner.
  • Strong ability to identify trends and/or anomalies and conduct follow-up root cause investigation.
  • Ability to communicate and present findings in a succinct and professional manner.
  • Strong work ethic, initiative, respect for confidentiality, and sound professional judgment.
  • Strong technical (Microsoft Office) skills are required and comfortable working in a data centric project environment.
