    DUTIES

    The University and Employment Preparation Department (Faculty of Education and Social Work) at Thompson Rivers University invites applications for a sessional faculty member to prepare learning materials and teach lectures in ENGL Literature and Composition.


    ENGL 0600 course description:

    ABE:

    Provincial - A Provincial Level (grade 12 equivalency) course which prepares students for the demands of compositions required in academic courses.

    It provides for further development of writing and thinking skills begun in earlier levels. Students work with a variety of rhetorical models for essay development. Also included is a critical analysis of selected works of prose and poetry.
    QUALIFICATIONS


    • Master's degree in a relevant field required
    • At least one degree in English required
    • Teaching Certificate or Instructor's Diploma or 5 years teaching experience required
    • Experience teaching students whose educational, social and economic backgrounds are diverse, and for whom previous school experience may have been challenging required
    • Demonstrated evidence of scholarly teaching required
    • Minimum of 5 years teaching experience in ABE English courses preferred
    • Skills in building intercultural understanding, empathy and mutual respect (TRC CA 63) preferred
    • Experience integrating Indigenous knowledge and teaching methods (TRC CA 62) preferred
    • Teaching excellence including developing culturally appropriate curricula (TRC CA 10) preferred
