The Journeyman Plumber performs work at the Tradesperson level on a wide variety of plumbing-related tasks keeping our 43 acre campus running efficiently for artists, guests and staff.

This position will work across a variety of sites including on-campus hotels, theatres and performance spaces, the Sally Borden Fitness and Recreation building and various administration buildings.


Specific Accountabilities:


  • Installation and maintenance of plumbing and drainage systems, steam and condensate distribution systems, domestic hot and cold water systems, natural gas and propane systems; and heating fluid systems.
  • Attend department and project meetings and be available to provide inspections, prepare estimates, develop plans for projects and renovations and identify and correct building deficiencies.
  • Ability to prioritize daily work, and be acquainted with purchasing procedures to order materials and equipment as needed.
  • May be assigned to supervise, direct, and assist in the education of plumbing and gas fitting apprentices.

Qualifications and Educational Requirements:


  • Completion of Journeyman certificate with accredited qualifications or a 4th year apprentice in the trades of Plumbing and Gas fitting.
  • Familiar with and able to comprehend construction blueprints and specifications, technical data for various equipment suppliers, and general construction practices.
  • Demonstrates good judgment, organizational skills, problem solving, and independence in planning and completing assigned tasks.
  • Is physically fit and capable of lifting, pulling, and managing up to 75 pounds of heavy equipment or objects.
  • This position requires a valid Alberta driver's license.

Employment Terms & Benefits:


  • The annual salary for this position is $78,000 with a consistent 37.5 hours per week.
  • A compressed work schedule will be considered after completing probation 4 days on, 3 days off
