JOB SUMMARY:


Reporting to the Manager, Employee and Labour Relations, this position provides strategic human resources advice and guidance to support organizational and program priorities and initiatives.

The SHRBP team serves as the hub of service delivery to our clinical and support programs, and the liaison between the Human Resources team and leaders and employees.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • First point of contact for human resources advice and interpretation of collective agreements
  • Build collaborative relationships with Managers
  • Consult and coach staff in your assigned client group on strategic HR issues and solutions, and support addressing complex employee issues
  • Provide timely consistent, expert advice and guidance to leaders in all areas of Human Resources including organizational changes, role development and changes, strategic workforce planning, addressing workplace conflict, and supporting performance management and progressive discipline up to and including termination of employment (in consultation with Manager, Employee Labour Relations and legal counsel as required)
  • Conduct credible investigations into reports related to violations of the Code of Conduct and Workplace Violence and Harassment Prevention Policy
  • Support the resolution of grievances, and other labour relations activities as needed
  • Work with the Abilities Case Management Specialists to find productive and meaningful work for employees requiring temporary and permanent accommodation
  • Support training of internal stakeholders on HR practices and services as appropriate
  • Participate in the development and implementation of HR and organizational programs and initiatives to support team wellness, engagement, equity, diversity and inclusion
  • Effectively use information and data to plan and implement programs and initiatives, such as grievance data, turnover, absenteeism, exit interview results etc
  • Provide support to clinical and support programs to plan and execute strategic and transformational change initiatives
  • Participate on Labour Management Committees and other organizational working groups and committees as required
  • Participate in the assessment and implementation of changes to legislation, collective agreements, and Lakeridge Health policies to HR practices and services
  • Identify opportunities to improve the services provided by the HRBP team
  • Support the development and maintenance of organizational HR policies and programs

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or relevant program, or recognized equivalent combination of education and significant related experience in Human Resources
  • CHRL designation preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive Human Resources and Labour Relations experience with exposure to a generalist HR practice, preferably in a unionized, healthcare environment
  • Thorough knowledge of employment related legislation, equity principles and sound human resources practices
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with all levels of staff within the organization and external parties
  • Experience conducting workplace investigations
  • Knowledge/experience working with process improvement methodologies
  • Demonstrated organizational, analytical, and decision making skills
  • Proven problem solving and conflict resolution skills, including the ability to exercise sound analytical judgment
  • Proven ability to work independently in a fastpaced high pressure environment;
  • Previous leadership experience managing a team
  • Knowledge of employment standards and human rights legislation
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong partnerships and client relationships
  • Strong planning and organization skills
  • Must have satisfactory performance record;
