Position Title: Senior Production Geologist

Reporting to Manager, Technical Services, the Senior Production Geologist is the primary position responsible for managing all ML/ARD material characterization and grade control programs. This role works with Skeena's Technical Services team to develop and implement geological characterization and modelling programs spanning across but not limited to field mapping and prospecting, collection of geochemical samples and structural data, core logging, up-to-date plotting and interpretation of data and results, implementing and monitoring relevant workflows and procedures (QA/QC etc.).

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

• Become the site subject matter expert (SME) on ML/ARD management and best practices at site.
• Responsible for planning and overseeing all production geology and grade control programs.
• Oversee blast hole sampling, assaying and analysis and provide direction for material handling to the Operations team.
• Establish, document, and maintain a system for sampling, data analysis, interpretation, in-field direction, and record keeping in accordance with the ML/ARD Management Plan.
• Develop and maintain geological models to estimate ore reserves, build grade control programs and ensure ore and waste activities are optimized and conducted in accordance with industry standards and regulations.
• Develop ML/ARD and grade control models with various consultants and professionals for production planning.
• Develop and manage the execution of the summer ML/ARD characterization, including budget management, scheduling activities, and effective resourcing to support the program's successful completion.
• Manage program data and records consistent with QP guidance and ensure the completion of program scope meets Skeena and designated QP standards.
• Work collaboratively and proactively with the Operations and Technical teams to ensure efficient use of shared field resources, contractors, and personnel.
• Conduct detailed geological mapping of mine areas and contribute to geological interpretation of the deposit including data compilation, integration, and 3D modelling.
• Responsible for preparation of monthly reconciliation and resource evaluation and reporting.
• Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentoring to the program team, including supervision of Geologists.
• Maintain accountability with internal and external team members on key deliverables to drive a performance-based culture.
• Promote a safety leadership culture by ensuring that safety practices are followed in accordance with Skeena's health and safety policies.
• Actively seek opportunities to recognize health and safety hazards, resolve safety issues, and work to mitigate associated risks in the workplace.
• All other related duties.

The Ideal Candidate:

Academic/Education Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Geology or Earth Sciences or Bachelor of Engineering/Applied Science degree in Mining, Geological or Geotechnical Engineering.
• Registered P.Geo./P.Eng. with EGBC or able to register in B.C.
• Familiarity with relevant BC and federal legislation and regulations (e.g., WorksafeBC guidelines, Mines Act, Occupational Health and Safety Legislation) is desired.

Required Skills/Experience:

• A Minimum of 8-10 years of directly related experience is required.
• Site experience in a mine construction or operations setting directly managing or supporting grade control or ML/ARD characterization programs.
• Demonstrated project management experience, with experience working on greenfield or brownfield start-up projects being considered an asset.
• Expertise in geological modeling and resource estimation software.
• Specific experience with production and geotechnical drilling, and management of associated operating teams.
• Practical field experience with geotechnical site investigation activities and core logging techniques.
• Experience in resource management and reporting under NI is an asset.
• Demonstrated success executing field programs in remote rotational locations.
• Must have past demonstrated experience in helping build a strong safety culture, as well as awareness of, and adherence to, all required health and safety best practices.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment or individually.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to support reporting, and communication between various stakeholders.
• Strong organization skills, managing, tracking, and recording multiple tasks and a heavy workload.
• Fast learner, motivated, detail and outcome oriented.
• Ability to work with minimal guidance (Must be self-directed).
• Must be able to work a rotational schedule in a remote mining camp.
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Work Location and Conditions

This is a site-based camp job at Eskay Creek Mine site. This position involves working at a remote mine site on a 15 days on/13 days off rotation including travel.

The Eskay Creek Revitalization Project is located within the Coast Mountains of Northwestern British Columbia and Tahltan Territory. Ground transportation will be provided from local communities to the Eskay Creek Site facilities. For those applicants located elsewhere in western Canada, flight transportation from major urban centers will be provided to the Terrace or Smithers airports, from which shuttles will provide transportation to the Eskay Creek Camp facilities. Travel time and expenses are subject to Skeena's Travel Policy.

There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice, and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects.
