About the Integrated Marketplace


The Integrated Marketplace (the Marketplace) spurs and streamlines commercial adoption and scale up of innovative technology related to greenhouse gas reduction, increasing efficiency/productivity and ensuring safety.

The Marketplace is led by Innovate BC and funded by the Province of British Columbia.


The purpose of the Marketplace is to drive the adoption and scale up of innovation by aggregating demand through business alliances, and testing solutions at identified 'test beds' in the province.

This model is intended to prove innovation at scale and secure domestic customers for innovation solution providers while de-risking the adoption of innovation for business.


About the Opportunity

Responsibilities
Operational Oversight / Improvement

  • Provides a clear vision and strategic direction for the Marketplace that aligns with its overall objectives (adopting and scaling innovation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve productivity/efficiency, increase safety).
  • Oversees the strategic direction of the Marketplace, working in close collaboration with the Integrated Marketplace Steering Committee.
  • Develops and operationalizes Marketplace business structures and processes needed to achieve the goals and objectives of the Marketplace.
  • Responsible for overall management of both the demand side (business alliance) and supply side (innovation solution providers) of the marketplace test beds.
  • Contribute to the evaluation and development of operational strategy and performance by identifying trends and highlighting opportunities.
  • Provide timely and effective issue resolution and escalation as needed.
Business Development

  • Leads the development of strategic partnerships to achieve the goals of the marketplace (i.e., the adoption and scale up of innovation by BC business).
  • Establishes and maintains stakeholder relations for the Marketplace overall and at identified test beds.
  • Leads advisory and consultation processes with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Oversees and communicates the corporate image to stakeholders, at trade shows, networking events, and through development of corporate collateral, press releases, internal communications and related activities.
  • Attend stakeholder meetings to discuss new opportunities and assess customer satisfaction, and coordinate the effort required to maintain a high level of satisfaction. assist with the ongoing development of the business plan and assists with securing of financing for expansion as required.
  • Establishes Marketplace targets and key performance indicators to demonstrate progress in achieving results.
  • Directs human resources, budgets, facilities, agreements, corporate reporting and other parameters of program and service delivery.
  • Creates reporting templates, structures and processes to deliver on required reporting from funding entities.
  • Directs and oversees communications related to the Marketplace and test bed projects.
  • Oversees corporate services related to the Marketplace (e.g., procurement, legal, intellectual property, data governance and security, financial operating model, etc.).
  • Work with Innovate BC President and the Office of the Innovation Commissioner to:
  • Identify other sources of funding for the Marketplace,
  • Build a plan for financial selfsufficiency of test beds,
  • Establish process to release pilot project funding,
  • Determine processes and methodology for evaluating pilot projects,
  • Communicate the results of the pilot projects,
  • Promote the Marketplace as a model for adoption and scale up of innovation,
  • Identify new opportunities (e.g., new opportunities for additional test beds, expanding the Marketplace to new sectors, etc.)
People Management

  • Contribute to the development and employee awareness of Innovate BC's mission, values and goals.
  • Leads, coaches and supervises staff including assignment of work, development and evaluation of performance plans, approval of leave, response to grievances and initiation of discipline processes.
