Description
NSB Omega is seeking a Planner for our ClientAssignment Description
The duties and job functions of the Planner shall include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Develop and implement the overall Major Project Schedule plans required for Decision Gates, Board Reviews or Project Sanctions Review decisions and establishment of the sanction control Schedules
- Mentoring and developing of internal employees in an effort to develop planning knowledge within the company
- Proactive support of a safety culture where "Nobody Gets Hurt."
- Review and approve plans prepared by consultant and any of Owner's other consultants
- Develop and prescribe labour production rates and other key schedule estimate inputs required to be standardized in the preparation of all project plans
- Prepare screening level plans to support the evaluation of various business planning activities
- Review and validate construction key parameters recommended by consultants, including construction productivity rates, material lead times, etc.
- Work with Owner's engineering, planning and construction resources to review and validate construction sequence and methodology proposed by consultants
- Develop and implement a routine to undertake selective activity duration verification.
- Review and approve all schedules/plans prepared by consultants and contractors, including summary documents
- Coordinate all third party planning verification activities
- Develop and document the overall Basis of Schedule for estimates as required, including preparation of summary presentations
- Understand the Decision Gate planning requirements for Sanction Decisions
- Work with Project Controls Team to develop a recommendation for planning contingencies.
- Work with team to establish the plan in a format that facilitates the easy migration into the Control Schedule required at Project Sanction
- Other project planning duties as required
Qualifications Required
- Expert knowledge of capital planning techniques required in support of Project Sanction recommendations
- Field experience on hydropower and large infrastructure projects, including large earth and concrete works is considered an asset
- Has kept up to date on latest construction techniques and industry trends concerning labour, equipment and material lead times
- Knowledge of construction planning and scheduling, including productivity calculations
- Access and supply of planning software for this work (e.g. Primavera)
