Richmond School District operates 38 elementary schools, 10 secondary schools, alternate programs, continuing education and a number of additional facilities.

The district enrolls approximately 21,000 students (K-12) and employs over 3000 dedicated staff.


We are currently looking for a full-time permanent Plumber to join our Facilities Services department to perform plumbing duties at the journeyperson level across the district's 53 facilities.


Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Installing, upgrading, repairing, and testing plumbing components, equipment and systems such as sanitary, storm, potable, natural gas, propane, compressed air and sprinkler systems to ensure safe and efficient operation;
  • Responding to plumbing and piping emergencies throughout the district facilities;
  • Provides technical advice and information to District staff as required;
  • Operating a district vehicle and maintaining the vehicle's electrical equipment and materials inventory as necessary.
  • Performs other job related duties of comparable importance, difficulty and responsibility as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Grade 12 or equivalent plus a BC or Interprovincial Certificate of Apprenticeship in Plumbing or equivalent apprenticeship training and a BC or Interprovincial Certificate of Qualification in Plumbing (T.Q.);
  • Two (2) years' experience at a Journeyperson level in commercial or institutional service work, including maintenance, repair and installation of commercial and industrial equipment.
  • Thorough knowledge of current techniques, methods, procedures, and equipment applicable to the plumbing trade.
  • Ability to organize workload, work under periodic pressure and complete assignments with mínimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License.

This is a unionized position that offers a 40-hour work week with an hourly wage of $34.77, plus a comprehensive benefit package including Municipal Pension, health, vacation, and sick benefits.
