We are currently recruiting for an experienced Intellectual Property Legal Assistant/Database Administrator which is part of our Corporate - Intellectual Property Group.

This opportunity is excellent for those who are keen to expand their knowledge in all areas of law and work in a fast-paced environment with supportive and knowledgeable colleagues.

What you will be doing:


  • Maintain the IP Database and computerized records of intellectual property portfolio information including the timely entering and removing of items from the system upon their completion and managing any necessary follow up.
  • Track responses to statutory actions and maintain the associated deadlines.
  • Generate reports that itemize the actions due and their corresponding due dates and periodic status reports for clients.
  • Review and distribute weekly status report and/or Canadian Trade-Marks Journal
  • Help prepare necessary forms for filing with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office and form letters to clients or foreign counsel for the lawyer's review.
  • Track upcoming deadlines.
  • Payment of designated government fees and other administrative duties.
  • Provide backup assistance to the other members of the IP Group.
  • A minimum of 1 year of trademark/patent legal assistant experience.
  • Experience with IP databases. Pattsy experience is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent organizational skills and detail oriented.
This position will be full time in office for the first 6 weeks. After that point, the firm's hybrid policy at the time will apply.
