***Reporting to the Associate Director, Climate Programs, and working collaboratively across programs, the Manager, Engagement and Advocacy plays a key role in SHARE's engagement program. They develop and execute corporate engagement strategies, negotiate with companies, and lead collaborative engagement initiatives. The Manager's work is primarily focused on climate change initiatives within SHARE's programs.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The key responsibilities outlined below are interpreted as being descriptive in nature and are not an exhaustive or comprehensive list of all possible job responsibilities, tasks, and duties.


  • Oversee and lead collaborative work with allied investors, including developing common agendas and shared priorities;
  • Develop strategy and identify targets, outcomes, timing, focus and activities for each sector and company based on thematic priorities;
  • Maintain ongoing, constructive engagement relationships with company personnel, government and regulatory officials;
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with and monitor developments from engagement partners, allied investors, funders, stakeholder groups, and experts in relevant fields;
  • Maintain an uptodate knowledge of emerging issues and trends in SHARE's thematic areas;
  • Provide oversight, mentorship and coordination among engagement team to maximize effectiveness of SHARE's programs;
  • Work collaboratively with the engagement research team to shape research program to support new and emerging engagement objectives;
  • Lead staff team involved in climaterelated engagements and provides coaching, feedback and daytoday supervision of work

COMPETENCIES

  • Demonstrated mastery of negotiation and advocacy techniques;
  • Excellent analytical skills, political acuity and sound judgement;
  • Ability to conduct research on topics related to the social, environmental and governance policies and practices of publicly traded corporations, including extensive use of online resources;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated ability to provide compelling and engaging presentations to a range of audiences;
  • Demonstrated leadership skills to motivate and coach a team;
  • Excellent recordkeeping, organizational and time management skills, including the ability to set priorities and balance competing deadlines and pressures;
  • Ability to work independently on a variety of tasks and contribute as part of a team;
  • Ability to motivate and lead a team.
  • Highly proficient with cloudbased collaboration tools, CRM databases, Microsoft Suite, and relevant database and data analysis tools.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three to five years of experience in an advocacy, negotiation, or strategic research role;
  • Master's degree in a relevant field or equivalent related experience;
  • Knowledge of business, investment, and/or financial markets in Canada and internationally;
  • Strong knowledge of relevant thematic priorities, including internationally recognized standards related to two or more of: climate change; decent work, human rights due diligence; equity and inclusion; Indigenous rights & reconciliation in the Canadian context; corporate governance.
  • Fluency in English is required. Fluency in French is a strong asset.
