Scope
The City of Surrey's Parks Division aims to provide all Surrey residents a safe and enjoyable experience in Surrey's outdoor spaces. As part of the Park Ambassador Program, you will play a key role in keeping our Park patrons safe. As the Park Ambassador Lead you will train and support the Park Ambassadors and submit daily data reports to measure the usage of our Parks.
Responsibilities
The Park Ambassadors will be a friendly face in Surrey's busiest parks. The role will deliver key messaging to the public regarding usage of our parks.
Working closely with Bylaws and Surrey Police Service by reporting any non-compliance with the Parks, Recreation & Cultural Facilities By-law.
Training Community Service Assistants in their role as Park Ambassadors and supporting with any issues that may arise.
Scheduling Community Service Assistants.
Monitoring and reporting on park utilization rates by submitting hourly data reports.
Reporting occurrences and incidents, creating a database of crucial information that can be used to direct future actions.
Entering the field data submitted on tablets and creating daily reports on Excel.
Reviewing the program weekly, providing feedback on changes and making amendments based on the needs of the Community Service Assistants.
Developing strong collaborative relationships with Park users and sporting groups.
Overseeing the reporting of Community Service Assistants.
Setting up weekly meetings with each Community Service Assistant to ensure their needs are met and providing performance reviews.
Providing customer service and handling questions, concerns and complaints from the public.
Assisting with other administrative tasks as necessary.
Performs related duties as required
Qualifications
We're looking for an enthusiastic individual with a passion for working outdoors. Our ideal candidate is a positive role model with a good understanding of the importance of safety and customer service.
Graduated from a recognized university or college level program plus 3 years progressively responsible experience in recreation, including supervision, or an equivalent acceptable combination of training and experience. An equivalent combination of relevant training and experience will be considered.
A current Emergency First Aid and CPR certificate (or acceptable equivalent) is an asset.
A valid Class 5 BC Driver's License is an asset.
The ability to exercise good judgment and work independently.
The ability to organize and prioritize high-demand and detailed work.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

This position requires completion of a Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.
