Thanks for your interest in this position We're looking for someone who can create a fun, relational, interesting and safe space for kids to grow in faith.

We think this person needs to be good motivator (to help kids learn and to recruit adult helpers), readily empathetic (to connect well with people from a variety of different backgrounds), and a good communicator (to teach children and to speak in both small and large groups of adults).

Tenth's vision is to be a church where people of all different backgrounds can discover Christ, experience spiritual transformation, and seek justice for all - and that same vision extends to our children.

The Children's Pastor will report to the Tenth West Side Site Pastor and will collaborate with both a site staff team and a larger Tenth-wide ministry team made-up of children's workers from other sites.

• Reviewing and integrating weekly lesson plans for West Side.
• Attending Tenth West Side Sunday Services (approx. 48 Sundays/year).
• Regularly leading the Kids Moment in the adult service.
• Overseeing, recruiting, training, and equipping Kids Teams, Leaders, Helpers.
• Communicates with Kids' Leaders/Helpers to ensure they understand the upcoming lesson and are ready to teach each week.
• Scheduling Kids Teams on a rotation.
• Ensuring Safety & Risk Management standards are implemented and maintained.

• Checking in with Kids Leaders to see how they are doing and to identify opportunities for further growth, encouragement, or support.
• Connecting with parents on Sundays and midweek.
• Intentionally welcoming new families and kids into the community.
• Participating in West Side events to connect with children, their families, and caregivers.
• Directing high crisis pastoral issues to the Site Pastor and Family Life Pastor.

• Assisting in parent resourcing, events, and activities as appropriate for West Side.
• Communicating needs and ideas to Director of Tenth Kids.

• Family Ministries Diploma/Degree, Early Childhood Education Certificate, Bachelor of Education, or significant work experience with children.
• Diploma of Christian Studies or theological education an asset.
• Strong Computer skills (Microsoft Office); Planning Centre Online knowledge an asset.

• Possess an authentic, growing faith in Christ.
• Spiritual maturity and evidence of ongoing personal spiritual formation.
• Has a heart to work with children, families, and leaders of varied socialeconomic, ethnic, and spiritual backgrounds.
• Must be responsible and able to carry out duties with minimum supervision.
• Can articulate sound theology and philosophy of ministry.
• Relational and outgoing, with a passion for connecting with people.
• Can translate vision and strategy into action.
• Committed to attending Tenth Church site if hired.
