JOB SUMMARY:
The mandate of Water Services is to provide treatment and distribution of a sustainable supply of high-quality drinking water and is committed to protecting the environment by collecting and treating wastewater for the health and prosperity of Ottawa.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Completion of Industrial Painter apprenticeship program of 6000 hours
Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a licensed Industrial Painter
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
Valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification as Painter and Decorator-Industrial 404D or Ontario Certificate of Qualification as Painter and Decorator-Commercial & Residential 404C.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Industrial painting practices, techniques, processes and standards (e.g. standards of the Structural Steel Painting Council, the Society for Protective Coatings)
- Knowledge of Building and Fire Codes
- Traffic management and fall protection procedures
- Methods and practices followed in the maintenance of related tools and equipment
- Workplace Hazardous Material and Information System (WHMIS) Regulation
- Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers
- Knowledge of water, wastewater and solid waste infrastructure is preferred
COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to operate and maintain required tools and equipment
- Ability to mix and match paints, varnishes and other products
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with clients, supervisor and coworkers
- Ability to read and understand blue prints
- Ability to work under mínimal supervision
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Flexibility, initiative and selfmotivated
- Dependable and punctual
- Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding and elevated storage tanks, and work safely above floor level
- Good physical condition
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Language Requirement: English oral, reading, writing
- Driver's
License Requirement:
A valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver's license (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated
