    PROCTOR (RESIDENCE COORDINATOR)

    Student Housing Office

    Grenfell Campus, Memorial University

    (One Part-Time Contractual Position for the Fall Semester)

    The Student Housing Office is responsible for the educational and social aspects of life in Grenfell Campus's residences. Home to 600 students, the two residence halls and the chalet apartments are more than just a convenient place for our students to live; they are a living-learning community wherein our students learn about life outside the classrooms.

    DUTIES

    The Residence Coordinators are our live-in, part-time, employees who provide support, guidance, and direction for the residents and the student staff living in each area. The Residence Coordinators report to the Manager, Student Housing and to the Residence Life Officer and are responsible for identifying and addressing various student needs, developing and delivering activities and programming, a variety of administrative tasks, and supervising the student staff. The Residence Coordinators are expected to demonstrate a commitment to the work and mandate of the residence life by fostering academic achievement, individual student development, and community mindedness, as well as being positive role models for young adults. The Residence Coordinators are required to be on call during evenings and weekends and respond to emergencies. The Residence Coordinators are in a position of trust and must exercise sound judgment, possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, and be capable of working collaboratively with the residents, other members of the Residence Life team, University staff, and others. The work of the Residence Coordinators is primarily carried out during the evenings and weekends.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    An undergraduate degree (preferably in education, social sciences, or human services) or equivalent experience is required. The ideal candidate would have experience living and/or working in university Student Housing. Experience in responding to emergencies and supervising a young adult population would be considered an asset.

    SALARY $1,500 per semester plus accommodations (one-bedroom apartment in residence hall) and some amenities
