    Shift structure: Monday to Friday, 7.25 hours per day

    Status: Permanent About the Role
    The Adolescent Day Program provides group, family and individual therapy while also providing education in a small classroom setting. Youth are encouraged to strengthen their existing abilities and develop new skills. Areas of focus include interpersonal relationships, problem solving, conflict management, organization and family function. Youth attend the program daily during the school year. The Mental Health Nurse will:
    • Complete appropriate nursing assessments (physical and psychosocial) to identify mental health concerns and current risk. This includes:
      • Incorporating objective findings such as laboratory, diagnostic findings, specialist reports and past history.
      • Medication reconciliation.
      • Monitoring of physiological parameters.
      • Medication side effects.
    • Integrate assessment and other data to establish appropriate long and short-term goals and provide nursing interventions to promote, maintain and restore health.
    • Act as a resource and provide training to team members to assist in their professional development.
    • Work with the ADP team, Clinical Manager and Senior Clinical Operations Manager to gather information and implement any required improvements to clinical processes.
    • At the direction of the manager, work collaboratively with the research department to assist with development and use of performance indicators, critical appraisal of evaluation findings and knowledge transfer.
    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in nursing.
    • A minimum of three to five years recent pediatric experience in an ambulatory care setting which has included the care and management of children with mental health problems. Acute care experience in children's mental health would be an asset.
    • Must be a member in good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta or College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta.
    Conditions of Employment
    • A satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search. This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate.
    • A satisfactory Child Intervention Check.
    • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or exemption on the basis of a protected legal ground.
    • Ability to pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification (training provided by CASA), as well as physical ability to perform all interventions.
