Senior RF/Hardware Engineer for Ultra-Thin UHF RFID Device

Job description
We are developing a compact, battery-powered UHF RFID reader designed as a MagSafe-compatible smartphone accessory.For this feasibility stage, the absolute priority is the technical execution of the PCB architecture and precise antenna tuning, rather than the external cosmetic design.
Core Challenges & Responsibilities:
RF & Antenna Tuning:
Achieve a reliable 1.5 to 2.0 meters read range using an internal 36x36 mm ceramic patch antenna.
This requires manual VNA tuning for impedance matching while the PCB is inside a 3D-printed enclosure, factoring in magnetic and dielectric interference (Hand Effect).
Strict Zonal PCB Layout:
Maintain a strict Z-axis profile of ≤ 12 mm. The layout must physically separate the RF Front-end (M7e-Pico module) from the logic/mounting zone to prevent severe RF detuning.
High-Pulse Power Management:
Design a power path capable of handling 1.0A-1.5A transient peak currents from the M7e-Pico using an ultra-thin, high-drain Li-Po cell (3C to 5C) and a dedicated Buck-Boost converter.
Firmware & Thermal Throttling:
Develop firmware for the nRF52840 MCU to actively manage the M7e-Pico's duty cycle and enforce forced cooling if the module exceeds 60°C.
Contract duration of 1 to 3 months. with 30 hours per week.Mandatory skills:
