Located on Mitchell Island, BC Research supports the development, scale-up and commercialization of innovative chemical processes through to the implementation of industrial scale chemical plants, and upgrades to existing pilot plants.

The group of companies aims to further advance and refine industrial chemical processes both nationally and internationally.

BC Research is looking for experienced mechanical fabrication/installation technician to build pilot plants and modify the existing ones. This is a full-time day position Monday to Friday.


Responsibilities

  • Light Fabrication work requiring the use of plasma, and general hand tools. Pipe fitting knowledge and assemble working with CPVC plastic, stainless steel, and steel
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and bills of materials to accurately fabricate and install components and mechanical assemblies.
  • Welding and machining capabilities; knowledge working with stainless, Nickel, Titanium, Inconel would be an asset
  • Facilities maintenance changing belt and filters and occasional general repairs.
  • Knowledge of Rigging hoisting and moving materials and equipment safely.
  • Capable of operating Fork & scissor lift

Tools:
press drill, welder, milling machine, lathe considered an assist.

  • Works well within a team and provides engineers and designers with constructive feedback on prototypes builds.
  • Observe and maintain company safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Machining and fabrication experience
  • Good organization, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret and follow written work procedures.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.
  • Must be fluent in English.
  • Strong understanding of safe work procedures.
  • Located to the greater Vancouver /Richmond must be able to commute reliability.

Success factors (beneficial, but not required)

  • Hands on experienced as a welder, machinist, pipefitter, millwright.
  • Capable of repairing and fabricate fixtures for use in a chemical plant.
  • Working knowledge of various piping materials and equipment required
  • Good positive can do attitude.
