Job Summary

  • The SharePoint Services team in Information Technology Services (ITS) supports Dalhousie University's internal website system, known as the myDal intranet. The myDal 2.
0 project involves a complete revision of the intranet, from architecture to content, to establish myDal as the primary source of information for Dalhousie faculty and staff:
the place where Dal works.

Reporting to the Manager, myDal/SharePoint Services, the Intranet Content Specialist is responsible for collaborating with site stakeholders and content owners to develop, update, and maintain web content for all myDal hub-associated sites.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and support internal web content for myDal sites, working with university stakeholders to redevelop and rewrite web content as required.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of existing publicfacing webpages to determine internal content needs, and research and understand target audiences, users, goals, content and intended brand, review current sites for what is working well and what can be improved.
  • Provide guidance and support to stakeholders on the myDal intranet content strategy for university web properties and act as functional point of contact for myDal site content requests and updates.
  • Ensure proper linking with relevant publicfacing website content to provide a consistent user journey for internal target audiences, in collaboration with Communications, Marketing and Creative Services (CMC).
  • Deliver established training sessions on internal content writing, information security, content auditing/reviewing, and editorial best practices to content owners and site owners for myDal sites, providing followup and customer service response.

Note
The successful applicant will primarily work remotely, with occasional presence in-person on-campus to meet client needs and operation requirements.

Dalhousie's vaccine mandate has been suspended at this time, and employees no longer need to provide proof of full vaccination.

Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in journalism, public relations, marketing or a related field, plus three to five years' relevant experience (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Experience can include work for an organization, agency, and/or freelance assignments.
