FULL TIME

Salary range:
$77,805 - $81,042

OPTIONS NORTHWEST Personal Support Services is a community-based, non-profit, charitable organization within the City and District of Thunder Bay. Our purpose is to support people with developmental disabilities in their quest to live life their way.

This position will require:
- degree/diploma in Human Resources Management/Business Administration or other appropriate program and a CHRL designation as an asset
- minimum of five years' experience at a management level
- a clear understanding of and previous experience in Human Resource Management/labour relations, including negotiating, administering and/or overseeing agreements, ie: collective agreements; contracts, ie: insurance benefits, EAP; plans, ie: EPP, RTW
- knowledge and proven work experience in recruitment strategies, health and safety and WSIB claims management, employee training and development, and in building partnerships within and outside the sector
- experience successfully engaging, leading and managing services and staffing teams
- extensive policy and budget development and management experience
- evolved leadership skills for critical decision making; effective interpersonal and communication skills as well as organizational ability
- an understanding of service models and legislation relevant to the Developmental Services Sector and Human Resources Management
- current certification in Standard First Aid with CPR (or a willingness to obtain) and a commitment to ongoing learning and development
- suitable computer skills, including knowledge of and experience with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office products
- a valid driver's license and use of own vehicle
- ability to work flexible hours, carry a mobile device and participation in an on-call assignment


Reporting to the Executive Director, the Human Resources Manager shall be accountable as a Manager, supporting the overall strategic direction of the organization.

The Human Resources Manager shall be responsible for a portfolio that includes creatively responding to the needs of the sector and people within the sector requiring services from OPTIONS through the direction, management and efficient operation of all aspects of human resource management including recruitment; labour relations, including investigations; human resource legislation; collective bargaining and agreement administration; budget and policy development; employee benefits; compensation and pay equity; health and safety; Workplace Safety and Insurance Benefit (WSIB) administration; student/volunteer co-ordination; staff training, development and recognition; assigned information system management (ie:HRIS); and Ministry and other compliance for the department.

As a strongadvocate for individuals and families, the Manager shall have a strong belief in and demonstrate performance for the agency vision, mission and philosophy.

Experience related to understanding, managing, and providing direction during challenging, high stress or crisis situations together with effective oral and written communication skills is required.
