What will you be doing
- Ensuring training records are maintained, accurate and accessible in accordance with corporate training standards.
- Designing and managing annual training plans.
- Assessing and reviewing the development and implementation of lesson plans.
- Directing firefighting staff at both emergencies and regularly scheduled activities.
- Conducting annual performance reviews of Training Officers.
- Encouraging communications between the supervisor and their employees in matters relating to job performance, career planning and development.
- Providing CNL with an inventory of its skilled resources for purposes of human resources planning and development.
- Communicating to the WL Fire Chief information relevant to the employee's level of performance and potential to advance or transfer in the Company and determine what development may be needed.
- Conducting observation and coaching of WL Fire Operations Staff
- Liaising with local municipal training staff on various fire service training matters.
- Participating in Candu Owners Group Workshops COG as required.
- Participate in the delivery of municipal Fire Protection Services Agreements.
- Communicating with department staff and the general public both orally and in writing.
- Delivering fire service training programs.
- Presenting prepared lesson plans so that method(s) indicated in the plan are used, and the stated learning outcomes are achieved.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.

- Knowledge of nuclear industry standards for developing and implementing training programs.
- Extensive knowledge of modern firefighting, related emergency services and the operation and routine maintenance of apparatus and equipment.
- Demonstrably aware of and able to implement NFPA 1403 Standard on Live Fire Training Evolutions.
- Demonstrably aware of and able to implement NFPA 1561 Standard on Emergency Services Incident Management System and Command Safety.
- Compliance with all applicable NFPA standards and other standards related to the job requirements of WL Fire Operations department.
Experience:
- Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible related experience.
- Extensive knowledge in the preparation of lesson plans, demonstrations, lectures, guide sheets, and use of training aids and manuals.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, specifically MS Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint.
- Meet the medical and physical requirements set forth by Corporate Fire and Emergency Management.
- Must be able to prepare accurate, clear and concise written reports.
- Must have the ability to organize work responsibilities associated with the position.
- Subject matter expert in specialized training areas such as high and lowangle rescue and confined space an asset.
Education:
- Certified to NFPA 1001 Firefighter Levels I & II.
- Certified to NFPA 1002 Standard for Apparatus Driver/Operator Professional Qualifications, Chapter 5 Apparatus Equipped with Fire Pump.
- Certified to NFPA Standard for Fire Service Instructor Professional Qualifications, Level III and willing to acquire Live Fire Instructor in Charge.
- Certified to NFPA 1021 Standard for Fire Officer for Professional Qualifications Level II and willing to progress through to acquiring Level IV.
- Certified to NFPA 1035 Standard for Professional Qualifications for Public Fire and Life Safety Educator, Level I and willing to progress through to acquiring Level III.
- Certified to NFPA 1033 Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Investigator.
- Certified to NFPA 1521 Standard for Fire Department Safety Officer, Health & Safety Officer and Incident Safety Officer Levels.
- Certified to NFPA 1072 Standard for Hazardous Materials/Weapons of Mass Destruction Emergency Response Personnel Professional Qualifications, Hazardous Materials Technician Level and willing to acquire Incident Commander Level.
- Certified to a minimum of ICS 200.
- Must be able to acquire and maintain training certificates in First Aid, CPR, O2 BLS, and AED.
- Must possess a valid Class D Driver's Licence with Z endorsement or equivalent.
- Security clearance eligibility required: Level 2 Secret which has a minimum requirement of 7 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat "Standard on Security Screening" and the "Policy on Government Security".
