Within Cancer Care Alberta (CCA), it is our goal to be a leader in cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, survivorship and palliative care, all on a foundation of world-class research.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Cancer Research & Analytics (CR&A), the Program Manager uses knowledge and expertise to establish systems, tools and processes that enable effective engagement, partnership building and strategic alignment and coordination with multiple AHS and external stakeholders.

A key member of the CR&A portfolio, this position is an integral player in creating structure through process development, accountability reporting, and change management to achieve desired outcomes.

This position requires leadership experience, broad epidemiology and cancer research knowledge, experience navigating the healthcare system, and a high-level of business acumen.

Working closely with CR&A leadership, the incumbent will develop and foster strategic partnerships with internal and external cancer research stakeholders including clinicians, patients/families, researchers, funding organizations, academic institutions, and industry partners.

They will support and improve administrative processes across the CR&A portfolio, develop and oversee action plans, prepare presentations and summary documents, gather evidence and synthesize data as it relates to specific projects and initiatives, undertake literature reviews and environmental scans, and perform other duties as required.

This position will also serve as a key liaison with the Alberta Cancer Foundation (ACF) by supporting comprehensive review processes, coordinating investment financials, and overseeing quarterly/annual status updates for our grants.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum graduate degree in Health Sciences or Business Administration. Minimum of 5 years experience in planning, research administration, or program coordination and management. Understanding of AHS organizational structure and experience working with its support groups (i.e. Finance, IT, HR). Demonstrated strategic and organizational leadership skills working within healthcare. Strong financial and analytic acumen; able to interpret information to determine priorities and performance analysis.

Ability to foster a climate of cooperation amongst and build solid relationships with government, external partners, committees and other partners.

Excellent interpersonal, engagement, coaching skills, consultation, negotiating, facilitation and written/verbal communication skills. Flexible, creative and able to adapt easily to a changing environment. Excellent computer skills including expert user knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with researchers and other key data stakeholders in a cancer research environment. Understanding of the complex cancer research environment and funding opportunities available within Canada. Proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals within a large, diverse organization. PROSCI, Project Management Professional designation and/or other change management training.
