    Our Client, a multidisciplinary engineering consultancy has an opportunity for a Project Engineer to join the team in their Galway office.

    # PROJECT ENGINEER (CHARTERED ENGINEER)

    Core Competency – The position of Project Engineer/QS requires a minimum Level 8 Honours Degree (Masters Degree may be required to achieve Chartered Status) qualification in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying (or equivalent qualification appropriate to the tasks assigned) and have achieved Chartered Membership of Engineers Ireland or Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland (SCSI).

    As a member of the Building & Infrastructure team and by mentoring with senior members of staff, the Project Engineer will be required to undertake the following duties:
    # Where directed by the Project Manager, liaise and meet with Clients to ensure delivery of the appropriate reports, designs and associated outputs.
    # Review documents and designs prepared by Graduate, Design and other Project Engineers.
    # Preparation and review of preliminary designs and reports using a variety of computer packages and subsequent preparation of detailed design drawings and specifications.
    # Procurement of Site Investigation and Building and Civil Engineering Contracts and where appropriate the preparation of pricing schedules and Bills of Quantities
    # Assisting our Project Managers in the preparation of tender documents and tender assessments.
    # Administration of the construction contracts to ensure that design requirements, project schedules and project budget are achieved.
    # Take instruction from their Line Manager (and where appropriate the relevant Project Manager and senior members of the project teams).

    In order to fulfil these duties the Project Engineer is required to:
    # Familiarise themselves with the use of the company quality management systems (QMS) including:
    # Familiarise themselves with the use of the company safety and health and risk management systems (SMS and Risk Management) including:

    The skills required of a Project Engineer
    # Excellent written and verbal (English) communication and interpersonal communication skills.
    # Proficient in the use of AutoCAD 2D and an aptitude to develop their skills in the use of AutoCAD 3D and Building Information Modelling (such as AutoDesk REVIT).
    # Capability to develop skills in the use of other software packages such as MicroDrainage Microsoft Access and GIS software packages such as ArcGIS and MapInfo.
    # Excellent working knowledge of construction contracts such as the PWMF Forms of Contract.
    # Working knowledge of relevant software packages such as Microsoft Project, MicroDrainage, TEDDS, ROBOT, RC-CADS, CUBIT and other similar and relevant packages needed to fulfil their day to day tasks.
