    Description


    Seeking early career environmental professionals to join our team
    and support various environmental projects in Yellowknife and beyond. The
    successful candidates should be motivated to learn and work alongside
    experienced environmental professionals. Looking for a candidate with a passion
    for the outdoors and an interest in pursuing a career in the environmental
    sciences.

    About
    the Role:

    Field Assistants are responsible for supporting technicians and
    specialists during fieldwork season. Specific duties will include, but are not
    limited to:

    • Summer employment (May-August) with possibility of extension or
      continued employment.
    • Working in the field under the supervision of environmental technicians
      and specialists.
    • Supporting field programs related to soil sampling, air quality
      monitoring, groundwater monitoring, environmental monitoring, wildlife
      monitoring, fish and fish habitat assessments, etc.
    • Supporting project reporting, including researching, data management,
      and report writing.
    • Supporting the coordination of field logistics and equipment management.
    • Following health and safety procedures and collaborating in improving
      safety in the field.
    • Completing required training programs for fieldwork (first aid, mine
      safety, helicopter safety).
    • Flexible working hours, overtime and weekend work is possible but not
      required.

    What
    you'll need

    For an individual to be successful in the role of a Field Assistant, they will need to meet the following
    education and /or experience criteria:

    • No previous education or professional experience
      required.
    • Must have an eagerness to learn skills related to
      environmental monitoring and sampling.
    • Previous experience or education within the environmental sciences considered
      an asset.
    • Strong commitment to health and safety policies and procedures.
    • Willingness to work outside in adverse weather conditions for
      potentially long periods at a time.
    • Willingness to travel and work in potentially remote locations.
    • Experience working in mining, contaminated sites, or remote sites is an
      asset.
    • Familiarity
      with Yellowknives Dene language, culture, and way of life would be considered
      assets.
