The _
Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (OFAH)_ is the oldest and largest non-profit, non-government fish and wildlife conservation organization in Canada.

The OFAH represents more than 100,000 members, subscribers and supporters.

The _conservation-focused programs offered at the OFAH Hunting and Fishing Heritage Centre (HFHC),_ gives today's youth first hand exposure to our rich outdoor heritage.

The
Conservation Education Liaison is responsible for delivering the summer day camp program and education programs for elementary and secondary school students attending the HFHC.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Develop and deliver the OFAH Summer Day Camps, including activity planning, staff scheduling, procuring supplies, addressing camper conflicts, communicating with parents, and ensuring camper safety and wellbeing;
  • Deliver, and occasionally develop, handson curriculum linked educational programs that promote conservation and the role of anglers and hunters for elementary and secondary students attending field trips to the Heritage Centre;
  • Provide personalized tours and interpretive presentations for walkin attendees and assist with the hosting of PA Day programs, special user groups, and private bookings;
  • Assist with program delivery and equipment maintenance pertaining to the Shimano Fish Pond, Excalibur Archery Range and Stoeger Air Gun Range;
  • Perform spotcleaning and maintenance tasks in and around the Heritage Centre as needed;
  • Assist with recruiting, supervising, training, mentoring, and supporting the OFAH Summer Day Camp staff, including the development of work plans and schedules;
  • Represent the OFAH at a variety of external meetings and public functions, including public speaking engagements and media interviews, trade shows, and other events;
  • Support the Conservation Education Coordinator to implement an annual HFHC communications plan, including the HFHC website, social media and media plans, signage and displays, and promotional materials and campaigns; and
  • Respond to internal and external information requests about the HFHC.

Education and Qualifications:


  • College or university education in an environmental field (e.g. environment, fish, wildlife, geography etc.), or equivalent workrelated experience is required.
  • Experience with supervising youth is required.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of hunting, fishing, firearms, and trapping required.
  • Bachelor of Education degree would be an asset.
  • Experience with curriculum delivery would be an asset.

Required Skills and Experience:


  • Intermediate computer skills (MS Office).
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, public relations, public speaking, interpersonal skills, project management, organizational and multitasking skills, time management, problem solving, and leadership.
  • Ability to sit and do computer work for sustained periods of time.
  • Ability to be on feet for sustained periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Other Requirements:


  • Applicants
    must have a valid driver's licence (class G), fishing license, firearms license, standard first aid with Level A and AED certification (as a minimum), and valid OFAH Membership (required at time of hire). OFAH employees are required to complete a vulnerable sector check every three years.
  • Possession of an Outdoors Card with accredited hunter would be an asset.
