Project Officer | Extremism, Misinformation and Public Trust | 12 month Term


Digital Public Square (DPS) seeks a project officer interested in helping us address extremism, misinformation and the erosion of public trust.

You will assist our team in researching the problem and then, together with affected communities and networks of experts, develop engaging online platforms that champion reliable information and promote healthy communities.


DPS works on some of the biggest threats to vulnerable communities today such as toxic mis/disinformation, and we help communities become more inclusive, responsive and empathetic.

What you will do

Working closely with Project leads and officers, you will join our programs team and help produce impactful program outcomes as a project officer.


  • Support the project leads to execute on their program vision
  • Conduct, catalog and coordinate research to support project initiatives
  • Track online narratives and misinformation relevant to the project
  • Work with a crossfunctional team of product managers, data scientists and strategists to launch campaigns
  • Help with procurement and contracting of partners, vendors and subcontractors
  • Assist in the development of online content with designers and community partners
  • Communicate with team members, including relaying briefs, connecting daily tasks to larger goals, and providing context and support
  • Support with the production of donor reports
  • Help set impact metrics and track KPIs, and then communicate and celebrate successes

Who you are

  • Demonstrated interest (academic, professional or lived) in projects related to extremism, public trust in institutions, the Canadian new media landscape and how it connects to global online trends
  • Interest in the mis/disinformation space
  • Interest in gamification, AI, and ethical use of technology
  • Bilingualism or the ability to read French and English online content
