Position Overview:


The Global Mission Pastor is responsible to support the mission, vision and values of The Peoples Church by prayerfully discerning vision, and providing oversight and direction to all global mission ministries and partnerships of The Peoples Church.

This individual will lead the Global Mission department and serve as a member of the Executive Team.


Major Responsibilities:


Discernment and Vision Casting

  • Serve as leader for the Global Mission department, prayerfully discerning God's vision for the global mission ministry of The Peoples Church, in collaboration with the Lead Pastor and Executive Pastor
  • Pray faithfully for the Global Mission ministries and partners of The Peoples Church
  • Work closely with our mission partners and pray faithfully to discern how to enhance mutuality and partnership in our global mission ministries appropriate to the unity we are called to as brothers and sisters in Christ across the globe.
  • Keep current with missions' trends and methodologies to enhance the relevance of our global mission ministries.
  • Developing and help with recruitment of the Mission Resource Advisory Committee
  • Discern and facilitate the implementation of global mission priorities, projects, partners, teams, trips, prayer events and other ministry opportunities on a regular basis.
  • Partner with the Executive Pastor to oversee the planning of the annual Global Mission Conference.

Pastoral Care and Leadership

  • To provide spiritual counsel, mentor and guide the Global Mission team to help them develop fully in their skills and spiritual gifts.
  • Model the Biblical imperative for unity and honouring different gifts in the Body of Christ with love
  • Cultivate mutually supportive and edifying relationships with mission partners, providing pastoral care to partners on an exception basis (primary pastoral care is through the local church)
  • Oversee and provide leadership to direct reports to ensure they have fully functioning ministries (including the development of annual action plans).
  • Support and assist the Global Mission team to achieve their role responsibilities and provide timely feedback of their performance.
  • Determine annual goals, objectives, and benchmarks in collaboration with the Executive Team
  • Work with Mission Partners to evaluate existing and possible new projects/ministries for partnership with The Peoples Church

Relationship and Financial Management

  • Develop and strategize with ministry partners the relationship that Peoples will have with regard to projects, missionaries and strategic focus.
  • Work with the Mission Resource Advisory Committee to provide oversight and approval for funding decisions regarding ministry partnerships and projects.
  • Assess the effectiveness of supported Global Mission projects and missionaries through regular communication, information audits, and field visits.
  • Oversee the Global Mission budget to ensure fidelity to the vision and values of TPC and the Global Mission ministry.

Mobilization & Training

  • Work with pastoral staff and leaders to implement a comprehensive plan and process that will foster increased missions engagement in the church.
  • Develop and train leaders from within the church family for participation in Global Mission ministry.
  • Mobilize volunteers to help with the various aspects of the Global Mission programs and develop staff to carry out the annual plan.

Communication

  • Oversee the provision of regular updates to our congregation regarding Global Mission ministry
  • Collaborate with other leaders to teach and encourage the congregation towards Faith Promise giving
  • Preaching if within gifting
Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:


  • Deep and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Supports the Statement of Faith of The Peoples Church
  • Experienced in discerning, designing and implementing Christlike compassion, justice, evangelism initiatives, leading from a place of Shalom (relying on God's nourishment and abundance, leading with hope and possibility)
  • Experienced in participating in robust crosscultural partnerships
  • Cross cultural acuity
  • Experience with identifying and dismantling racist norms and leading in a relational, antiracist manner to honour the Biblical imperative for unity in the Body
  • Multilingual an asset, but not required
  • Possess a relevant university degree (theological education preferred).
  • Passion for missions
  • Understand the context of modern day ministry and missions
  • Compelling communicator
  • Experience in equipping, mentoring or discipling others into leadership
  • Experience in recruiting, training and leading team members and volunteers in all areas of evangelism and outreach.
  • Availability to travel world wide
