Silverstone Care Centre is a modern new long-term care home, purpose-built for 128 seniors and located overlooking the ocean in Sechelt BC.

Silverstone is family-owned and a sister site to care homes in Kamloops, and North Vancouver.


We are seeking
a Recreation and Volunteer Coordinator (RVC) to
passionately contribute to the delivery of quality-of-life programs to Residents by focusing on creating joy through connections, engagement and feeling valued.

This position embraces the Resident's physical, social, emotional, intellectual, spiritual and cultural needs & interests along with the principles of Person and Family Centered Care.

Working as support for the Recreation Manager and in collaboration with the Recreation Team, you will participate in the recreation programs and implement a robust volunteer program that adds value to Residents' lives.

You will also help celebrate the events in the home by drafting newsletters, social media posts and other communications as a way to broaden connections to promote interest, grow community awareness and encourage participation at the home.


  • Demonstrated knowledge of recreation programs including a minimum of two years of recreation experience in Long Term Care and/or comparable roles;
  • At least one year of recent relevant experience working with individuals with dementia
  • Experience in growing and/or managing a volunteer program including two years' recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Completed a recognized Recreation Therapy Program or Activity Assistant Diploma.
  • Experience in managing people would be an asset.
  • Basic computer skills (including MS Office, specifically Outlook, Excel and Word) as knowledge of social media processes including Facebook and Instagram
  • Additional certifications include First Aid CPR C, 'Serving it Right' and Food Safe Level 1;
  • Training related to working with dementia.
  • GPA (Gentle Persuasive Approach) training is an asset.

Salary:
$28.74-$35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
