About the role:

Reporting to Production Managers, the Production Assistant will be responsible for assisting in all filling, packaging, and processing activities. This will be a rotating role between production extraction and product manufacturing. Shift availability for evenings is needed.


This role will be accountable for conducting production tasks in a safe, efficient manner to ensure the production schedule stays on track.


Key success factors for this position will include attention to detail, strong organization, and the ability to drive efficiency and change without compromising teamwork and product quality.


Duties and responsibilities (include and are not limited to):

  • Operating production equipment for cannabis processing per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Performing various production sanitation activities in conformance with Sanitation Plan, SOPs, and Good Production Practices (GPP)
  • Will be trained to perform maintenance and calibration of equipment as per schedules.
  • Maintain production records in accordance with SOPs.
  • Monitor temperature or pressure gauges, indicators, or meters to ensure required process conditions.
  • Maintaining strict inventory records of raw materials, chemicals, and equipment
  • Will be trained to handle pressurized gas/liquid cylinder and solvent drums and containers.

  • Assist in ensuring the effective execution of extraction tasks in compliance with Health Canada regulations, Work Safe BC regulations, SOPs, and all applicable procedures.

  • Ensuring compliance and accuracy involving all product tracking, product security, and product movement procedures
  • Following appropriate control measures to prevent mixing of dissimilar production components while following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • Performing inprocess and postprocess quality assurance sampling and conducting visual inspections to ensure all product meets or exceed Adastra Lab's specifications and client expectations.

  • Working closely with QA to ensure adherence to QA requirements.
  • Potential for ad hoc projects

Qualifications/competencies:


  • High school diploma (required)
  • Must have the ability to obtain and pass a RCMP Criminal Record Check and maintain security clearance (required)
  • Experience as an operator for highpressure systems, or in complex process industries (e.g., oil & gas, pulp & paper etc.) could be considered an asset.
  • Experience with biomass extraction is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of WHMIS, sanitary food production experience an asset
  • Familiarity with the Cannabis Act is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of GMP and/or GPP or equivalent is preferred.
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem solving ability and risk assessment.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability
  • Excellent time management & multitasking abilities, as well as a high level of energy and interpersonal skills
  • Must have focused attention to detail and excellent paperwork skills i.e., understanding of batch records.
  • Must be ready to switch priorities when production plans change.
  • Must be able to manage tight timelines to meet production needs.
  • Clear oral and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software suite
  • Desire and ability to collaborate and succeed with others.
  • Cannabis industry knowledge is an asset.

Work Conditions:


  • Medium Strength demands; up to 1020kg (2244lbs)
  • Other body positioning (e.g., bending, stooping etc.) in addition to prolonged standing and/or walking.
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment
  • Hazards associated with the trade (e.g., equipment, tools, chemicals)
  • Overtime as required.

Salary:
$20.00-$25.00 per hour
