  • Fluor's Mining and Metals Business line provides these engineering services to the mining industry globally with a focus on the engineering, procurement, and construction of processing and infrastructure facilities associated with the recovery of metals and minerals.
  • Scope of Work
  • The Lead Estimator is responsible for the overall implementation and direction of an assigned area of the estimating functions to provide services, procedures and methods for the timely and accurate issuance of estimates and supporting documentation to the client and project management. In responding to estimating requests, is responsible for ensuring that departmental and company requirements are met.
  • The Lead Estimator may direct the quantitative development of material, labor, and subcontract takeoffs, as well as the coordination of information between Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning and Maintenance. On large to midsized or multiple projects, the individual, if on the leadership track, may act independently or may direct a staff of other estimating professionals. If on a technical track, the individual will report to an upperlevel estimator on a mega or extremely largesized projects.
  • Day to Day responsibilities include:
  • Under administrative direction, provide services, procedures and methods for the timely and accurate responses to client, project management, departmental, and company requirements
  • Develop the estimate plan and coordinate estimate development with the project team
  • Lead the development of the total project estimate; detailed and/or conceptual
  • Prepare the total Project Basis of Estimate
  • Prepare the Estimate Risk Analysis and make cost contingency recommendations
  • Arrange and conduct department, discipline, and project estimate reviews
  • Participate in the presentation of the estimate to Fluor and client management
  • Assist in estimate completion activities and estimate turnover to the project team
  • Develop and conduct estimating training programs

Other responsibilities include:

  • Continuously refine supervising and mentorship skills
  • Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines
  • Organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, set priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Plan and organize own work assignments, as well as carry out tasks from management staff
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and global standards and adhere to and support Fluor's Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability Policies
  • May need to travel to attend to business related matters
  • Must be authorized to work in the country where the position is located.

Basic Job Requirements

  • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and twelve (12) years of workrelated experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to sixteen (16) years if nondegreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
  • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a timeconscious and timeeffective manner
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Power Point, Word, Access)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of the mining industry process facilities is preferable.
  • Construction experience is preferable

The Fluor Canada Vancouver office works a compressed work schedule offering every second Friday off.

Relocation:
This position is not eligible for company sponsored relocation assistance
