Registered Social Worker or Psychotherapist

Independent Contract

About you:

  • A registered social worker or psychotherapist with a passion in supporting marginalized or vulnerable folks dealing with complex life challenges including mental health, addictions, social exclusion, and involvement with the justice system.

The Opportunity:

  • An independent contract providing inperson counselling to assigned cases referred by the Ministry of the Solicitor General, in a probation and parole office.
  • This contract supports our Renfrew Parole office 1 day a week for 4 hours.
  • Our Gov't Services Counsellors:
  • Support mandated clients by providing medium-term counselling to assigned cases;-
  • Communicate on clients' behalf, with express consent, with external professionals;-
  • Follow the Government Counselling Services client services model and administrative requirements;-
  • Meet the company's contractual obligations to the Ministry of the Solicitor General, Ontario
  • What we're looking for:
  • Master's degree in Counselling, Psychology or Social Work;
  • Professional College membership in Ontario and valid professional liability insurance;
  • Minimum two (2) years postgraduate counselling experience;
  • Ability to work with various types of clients presenting a wide variety of issues and good knowledge of local community resources;
  • Strong clinical assessment skills with ability to promote community adaptation and integration;
  • Ability to set short term objectives and work from a strengthbased model;
  • Availability to provide support during business hours in an office located in Renfrew, Ontario.
Where permitted by law, LifeWorks employees must be fully immunized to access a LifeWorks office or customer premises.
