Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a practical, results-focused lawyer to join the legal department of a growing company in the important real estate development sector, building and operating purpose-built rentals from dirt to door.

In this role, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to build a legal career in an important and growing real-estate space while helping to deliver the housing that Canadians need.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide accurate, timely and practical legal advice (both solicitor and barrister) to all departments within the organization
Draft legal agreements and other legal documents
Work closely with other members of the legal team
Support and manage external counsel
Manage risk as a facilitator of business operations
Actively participate in building and maintaining our positive office environment

REQUIREMENTS:

LLB/JD or equivalent
14 years postcall experience
Member in good standing of the Law Society of B.C. or Law Society of Manitoba or ability to transfer from other provincial law society
Preference for experience in corporate commercial, construction, real estate, litigation
Critical thinker who takes a practical approach to problemsolving
Ability to manage multiple work assignments and competing priorities under tight timelines
Team player, but with the ability to work independently when required with minimum supervision and a high degree of personal initiative
