Host Agency Support Worker Wanted

Support Summary:

Responsibilities:


  • Provide personalized support and companionship tailored to the individual's needs and preferences.
  • Assist with transportation to dental appointments, physiotherapy/chiropractic sessions, and other outings as required.
  • Encourage and assist with maintaining physical fitness activities, considering the individual's mobility challenges.
  • Offer gentle encouragement and support during times of change or transition.
  • Accompany the individual on outings to art galleries, music concerts, and outdoor performances.
  • Assist with collecting books and donating items to secondhand stores.
  • Assist with planning activities and outings based on the individual's interests.
  • Provide support outside of the home environment, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience.

Requirements:


  • Genuine interest in providing support and companionship to an individual with specific needs.
  • Ability to adapt to the individual's pace and provide a gentle approach as needed.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle for transportation purposes.
  • Availability to work up to 20 hours per week, with flexibility to accommodate appointments and outings.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to establish a trusting relationship with the client and their family.
  • Understanding of the importance of maintaining confidentiality and respecting the individual's privacy.
  • Previous experience working in a similar role or with individuals requiring specialized support is an asset.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Familiarity with Saltspring Island and its community resources.
  • Interest or experience in art, music, and outdoor activities.
  • Ability to assist with light household tasks as needed.
This position is an independent contract and as such, contractors are not employees of Community Living Victoria.

These contracts are renewed on an annual basis contingent upon both parties wanting to continue the contract, and if credentials are up to date.


Job Type:
Fixed term contract

Contract length: 12 months


Pay:
$26.20 per hour


Expected hours:
No more than 20 per week
