    Environmental Monitor / Coordinator
    We have a challenging opportunity for a full-time Environmental Monitor / Coordinator to join our Terrestrial Science team.

    The qualified individual will complete environmental inspections , including but not limited to surface and groundwater field sampling, erosion, and sediment control inspections, wildlife sweeps, and ensure environmental compliance relating to applicable permitting and municipal, provincial, and federal regulations.

    This position is field-based within an active construction site in Bath, Ontario .

    Ensure the project work and procedures are within compliance with all applicable environmental legislation, project-specific commitments, approval conditions, and environmental management plans.


    • Review and update associated environmental management plans, including but not limited to Surface and Groundwater Management Plan, Water Quality Monitoring Plan, Erosion and Sediment Control Plan.
    • Prepare a Water Quality Monitoring Plan, including scheduling, sampling protocol, sampling locations, for approval by Environmental Manager Surface Water and Ground Water
    • Perform all required surface and groundwater sampling in accordance with the associated environmental management plans.
    • Coordinate with the approved laboratory all sample collections, bottle sets, field collection, sampling equipment, calibration, and organization of data, chain of custodies, and certificates of analyses.
    • Track and maintain water-taking volumes, results from lab sample collections and water database.
    • Provide weekly and monthly reports for the Environmental Manager.
    • Prepare notification to Ministry of the Environment, Conservation, and Parks (MECP) and local Conservation Authority.
    • Provide non-compliance notifications and reports whenever exceedances are identified to Environmental Manager.
    • Ensure environmental monitoring systems and mitigation methods are in place and functioning to the designed standard. Propose mitigation measures when water quality and site conditions are negatively impacted. Ensure all employees, including sub-contractors, are fully knowledgeable of the requirements of the environmental management plans associated with their work and the project site.
    • Report all environmental incidents, near misses, and non-compliances to the Environmental Manager, and as required as per the Communication Plan.
    • Prepare mitigation plans for the installation of bird deterrents for key location on the project site.
    • Perform environmental site audits and inspections, as required.
    • Prepare on-boarding and site orientation materials related to environmental management plans for personnel attending the site.
    Approximately 3-5 years of applied work experience related to either environment science or natural resource management.

    • Ability to work in the field and carry out sampling programs in all weather conditions.
    • Understanding of applicable legislation pertaining to Canadian Environmental Protection Act , Water Sustainability Act , provincial Wildlife Act and Wildlife Regulations , and Environmental Management Act .
    • Strong technical writing skills.
    • Self-starter and flexible team player.
    • Ability to work within a team environment.
