Must Have's:


  • Has strong project management experience in a research and funding, nonprofit environment.
  • Has a background in urban planning, architecture, construction or real estate.
  • Has experience in the sustainability space.
  • Is comfortable attending events and meetings, writing reports, working with a range of stakeholders, event setup, communications planning, etc.
  • Has superior organizational skills.

JOB PURPOSE


Reporting to the Director, Project Development and Research ("Supervisor"), the Project Manager is responsible for positioning CAGBC as an effective green building project design and implementation lead.

The Project Manager will construct and deliver key outputs, maintain excellent relationships with funders and stakeholders as well as advance relevant policy and programmatic opportunities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead design and implementation of key deliverables for assigned projects and initiatives, including the research, report writing and presentation, development of learning resources and training aids, participant recruitment and convening, and workshop design and delivery.
  • Ensure progress towards achieving project deliverables through regular and timely project reviews and communicating project status and expectations to supervisor and project partners.
  • Manage and track project budgets and ensure all internal and external reporting requirements are met in a timely manner.
  • Support business development by identifying opportunities and carryout project proposal development.
  • Act as a general resource for strategic and technological aspects of a range of projects across multiple segments of the green building sector.
  • Evaluate opportunities for strategic engagement with organizations, governments, multilateral agencies, and/or businesses from the green building sector and directly engaging when appropriate.
  • Support and participate in the planning and execution of industry engagement activities related to green building.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities and complete projects and initiatives as assigned by the Supervisor.

  • Superior analytical, synthesis, presentation, and written communication abilities.
  • Strategic thinker and agile problem solver with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills, including the ability to multitask and manage numerous projects concurrently with conflicting priorities while ensuring a high quality of execution and performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise diplomacy and build rapport as well as maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders such as government and industry personnel.
  • Good knowledge and clear interest in green building policies and programs such as building design and renovations, low carbon materials and skills as well as energy benchmarking.
  • Good judgement, and fully capable of working in a teamoriented, virtual environment.
  • Able to work with a diverse group of stakeholders, anticipating needs and issues in advance, and comfortable with working through contentious matters when necessary.
  • Capacity to complete tasks in a selfdirected manner.

Education/Qualifications

  • Three to five years of experience in some combination of project management and public policy related to green building with increasing responsibilities.
  • Postsecondary degree in public policy, political science, environmental, sustainability studies or another related program, complemented by a master's degree and/or equivalent experience.
