We are seeking a Corrosion Technician to join our Corrosion Prevention Section. You will be responsible for performing technical
work relating to the operation, monitoring, inspection, maintenance and installation of corrosion control systems on Corporate
facilities; calibration of instruments and equipment related to the measurement and management of corrosion control systems;
assisting in installation of electronic and related equipment used in data gathering and corrosion control.


_ Responsibilities:
_


  • Assist in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of rectifiers and remote monitoring units around the province
including internal and external components such as but not limited to grounding systems, AC and DC lightning arrestors,
diode bridges and transformers.

  • Monitor the performance of the cathodic protection system on pipelines around the province by using electronic instruments
such as GPS synchronized interrupters, data-collectors, amp-meters.

  • Determine locations for impressed current anodes systems installation on steel pipelines by assessing the areas for suitability,
soil resistivity, power supply, current requirement tests and other requirements.

  • Conducts field studies using a variety of instruments to determine the location and the root cause of a deficiency in the
performance of the cathodic protection in a cathodic area, to identify corrective actions required and to document these
findings.

  • Assists in the installation of and responsible for connecting and maintaining check points in rural areas.
  • Conducts specialized field surveys using electronic instruments to indirectly assess the condition and integrity of the pipeline
- coating, to indirectly identify locations that are likely to have substandard coating performance
  • Conducts measurements to assess the corrosion or corrosion potential of lamp standards, bases, anchors, ground rods,
- cables and/or other components of the electric distribution or communications systems.
  • Responsible for entering, processing and retrieving data in personal computers using Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel,
  • Responsible for the safe and responsible use of office equipment, hand and power tools, test equipment, power equipment,
- maintaining tools and equipment in good condition.- activities, including but not limited to corporate gas standards, NACE international and CSA standards.
  • Communicates clearly, concisely and accurately, in writing and orally, with coworkers, customers, outside consultants,
- agencies and general public on work-related matters as required.
  • Operates vehicles and equipment in a safe and responsible manner, performing minor checks and maintaining vehicle in good
- and clean condition; drives defensively; reports vehicle and equipment defects and accidents.
  • Assists in the development of progressive proposals and ideas for the longterm success and value of corrosion prevention
and the Distribution Standards & Services Department.

_ Qualifications:

  • Grade 12, graduate of an applied science or technology program in electrical and/or electronic engineering technology, two
years of related work experience, membership in CTTAM and certified as a C. Tech or C.E.T.

  • Hold a Limited Technologist/Technician (M-T) Licence.
  • Commitment to successfully complete Two-Day Rectifier School, NACE CP1 and CP2 courses within two years of transfer

- into the position.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a safe, courteous and responsible manner with coworkers, customers and outside agencies
- following Manitoba Hydro standards, procedures and policies.
  • Will attend and satisfactorily complete training courses as assigned.
  • Works safely in all weather conditions and special working conditions related to the gas industry.
  • Physically capable of performing duties associated with the position.
  • Possess current, valid Manitoba Driver's Licence Class 5.

_ Salary Range_
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $36.81-$46.06 Hourly,
$70,529.16-$88,267.40 Annually.
