communities. AHC's mandate is to improve the lives of individuals and communities through the

facilitation of educational initiatives and targeted capacity-building supports.


Job Summary


The Children and Family Empowerment Coordinator leads and coordinates the implementation of program activities and services delivered by a team of Site Coordinators and Youth Facilitators.

This position supervise frontline staff in the planning, implementation, evaluation, documentation, and reporting of all project services and activities.

The Coordinator assesses the needs and gaps in engagement opportunities, settlement, and essential community services for newcomers, and works with the program manager, project staff, and community partners to develop strategies to address these needs
.


Additionally, the Coordinator plays a critical role in engaging and supporting parents of newcomer youth by working with their team to develop and implement programs and services that offer guidance and support for parenting in different cultures, promote parent-child bonding, and provide information about community resources available to families.


Overall, the Coordinator plays a critical role in providing high-quality after-school programming for children, while ensuring that the program is safe, effective, and financially sustainable.


Responsibilities Include

  • Program Development:
  • The coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive children program (after school time activates, Summer Camps) that aligns with the needs of the children and their parents. This includes developing and updating program goals and objectives, curriculum, policies, and procedures.
  • The Coordinator also responsible for parents engagement working with Family Empowerment Liaison to deliver the parents information sessions, parenting skills and referrals.
  • Staff Management: The coordinator hires, trains, and supervises the staff who will work in the children program. This includes providing guidance and support to ensure that the staff is equipped to provide highquality programming for the children.
  • Budget Management: The coordinator is responsible for developing and managing the budget for the program. This includes identifying funding sources, preparing budget proposals, and ensuring that expenditures are within the budget.
  • Marketing and Outreach: The coordinator is responsible for promoting the program to parents, schools, and the community. This includes developing and implementing marketing strategies, creating promotional materials, and attending community events to promote the program.
  • Program Evaluation: The coordinator evaluates the effectiveness of the program by collecting and analyzing data on program outcomes. This includes conducting surveys and gathering feedback from children, parents, and staff to identify areas for improvement.
  • Safety and Security: The coordinator ensures that the program is safe and secure for the children. This includes developing and implementing safety policies and procedures, conducting regular safety checks, and maintaining a secure facility.
  • Communication and Collaboration: The coordinator communicates regularly with parents, school administrators, and community partners to ensure that the program is meeting the needs of the children and the community. This includes collaborating with other organizations and agencies to provide additional resources and support for the program.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in education, child development, social work, or a related field
  • 23 years of leadership experience in nonprofit organizations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites, Google Applications and databases
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills are essential
  • Supervision experience with direct reports
  • Experience working with vulnerable children and youths
  • Flexibility in scheduling
  • Current Criminal Record check with vulnerable sector check, Child intervention record check are required
  • First Aid Certification an asset
  • Multilingual an asset

Working Conditions:

The regular hours for this role are from 9 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday.


However, there may be occasions where the Coordinator is required to work weekends and evenings, especially when there are special events or activities planned for the after-school program.

Travel required for site visits
