Responsible To:
Director, LTC


Major Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for the overall management and day to day operations of the Resident Care areas
  • Provide leadership in all aspects of resident focus care in alignment with the mission, vision and values of Shoreham Village
  • Demonstrate a leadership role in the implementation of a resident focused model of care
  • Demonstrates competency in change management projects with the ability to build positive relationships and engage others
  • Lead change and continuous quality improvement to ensure a resident focused experience for people living at Shoreham Village.
  • Promote a healthy workplace that shows employees and volunteers are valued and that is in compliance with all legislation and best practices for occupational health and safety
  • Promotes and supports the development of positive healthy relationships with all residents, their families, volunteers and community partners.
  • Manages all aspects of staff performance, learning and development.
  • Responsible to manage the operating budget for the resident care area and the costeffective use of resources
  • Lead, support and manage all employees who report directly within resident care to work within and to their full scope of practice
  • Manages day to day scheduling and timeoff requests in collaboration with the Scheduler
  • Responsible for recruitment, selection, hiring and onboarding of new staff.
- (Must be able to participate in on-call rotation that could include after hours and weekend support)


Qualifications:


  • University Degree, or Diploma in Nursing with current license with the CRNNS
  • One to two years of relevant work experience
  • Long term care or Continuing Care experience considered an asset
  • Gerontology certificate considered an asset
  • Experience and knowledge of resident focused models of care
  • Experience and knowledge of resident centered care is an asset
  • Infection Control experience/knowledge/certification is considered an asset
  • Management experience is considered an asset
  • The following knowledge is preferred: Conflict Management, Interprofessional Collaboration, Crisis Intervention Methods, Emergency Protocols, Risk Management Procedures
  • The following skills are considered an asset: Critical Thinking, Oral and Written Communication, Interpersonal Skills, Problem Solving, Judgement and Decision Making, Conflict Resolution and Team Building
  • Must have regular and consistent attendance in accordance with the Shoreham corporate standard.

Hours of Work: 80 hours bi-weekly (8 hour shifts)

As per the Collective agreement
