The Microboards are made up of family and friends who aim to assist an individual achieve their personal goals and take greater control of their lives.
Job Summary
Vela Canada is assisting in the search for an exceptional,
Casual/On-Call,
Community Support Worker to support a delightful woman in
Kelowna during weekday daytime hours.
- Provides companionship and safe environment for the individual
- Consistently assess individual's needs and wants with Microboard member(s) to generate shortterm schedules
- Adapting and rescheduling individual's day accordance to behavioural/mood changes
- Identify social, economic, recreational, physical, and educational programs/services to assist the individual achieve personal goal and develop relationships within the community
- Assist the individual in performing household duties and daily activities in an independent manner
- Accompanies and/or transports the individual to medical appointments, recreational, social and leisure activities
- Assisting individual in creating connections and meaningful relationships
- Other assigned duties

Qualifications
Education & Experience Requirements
- Community Support Worker and/or Social worker certificate
- Experience as a community support and/or social worker
- Valid First Aid & CPR Certificate
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate
- Valid driver's license
- Knowledgeable of the local community, activities, and events
- Ability to the work as team player with family, friends, and Microboard members
- Empathy, patience and a compassionate approach
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Understanding of client confidentiality and privacy
- Strong problemsolving and decisionmaking skills
- Basic computer literacy
Special Requirements
- Must provide a complete and current Vulnerable Sector Check (including criminal record check) or be willing to obtain on
- Valid driver's abstract from ICBC
- Reliable vehicle
- Completed and signed Medical Consent Form
- Flu shot, Hepatitis B Vaccine, Covid 19 Vaccines, Tuberculosis screening
Job Types:
Casual, Permanent
Pay:
$23.00 per hour
Expected hours:
No more than 20 per week
