Job Description
Under general supervision and direction of a specialist physician, the CT performs techniques relating to Electro Cardiogram (ECG) testing, and Blood Pressure (BP) monitoring. Performs related procedures including scanning, analyzing and selecting portions of test strips; records, summarizes and/or interprets data for use by physician.
Responsibilities
- Performs Electro Cardiogram (ECG) testing and Blood Pressure (BP) testing.
- Explains procedures and answers patient queries in preparation for testing.
- Enters patient test information as per department protocols, into an Excel spreadsheet
- Maintains appropriate files and reports according to established department procedures/policies.
- Demonstrates ECG testing procedures and operation of related equipment to students and new staff.
- Maintains equipment by cleaning, lubricating and replacing items as required
- Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications
- Completion of a recognized Cardiology Technology Program at the Diploma level
- Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists (CSCT) certified.
- Previous experience in a healthcare or technology-related role is preferred but not mandatory.
- New graduates are encouraged to apply.
Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated knowledge of current techniques, methods, and procedures relevant to the role. Ability to operate all equipment related to the position, including windows-based software packages such as use of Microsoft Excel.
- Demonstrated professional demeanor with effective communication skills to interact with patients, staff and other healthcare providers, both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to organize workload and set priorities, able to work independently and collaborate with others.
- Demonstrated physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
