    Position Information

    School Secretary/Assistant

    The purpose of this position is to perform clerical duties in support of, and to assist, in the day-to-day operation of the school. This position reports to the administrative assistant and administration.

    Responsibilities

    Answers telephones and supplies factual information to callers. Communicate with parents concerning student absenteeism, check-outs, or early dismissals.

    Interacting and assisting students, staff, and parents on a regular basis.

    Understanding of PowerSchool operations; using PowerSchool to enter attendance, run reports.

    Maintain office supplies; place orders, receive deliveries.

    Working with our vendors to maintain photocopiers and other equipment.

    Daily supervision of students during lunch time.

    Organization and distribution of locks/lockers/locker contracts.

    Assisting with organizing Guest Teachers.

    Updating and distributing the emergency red folders for fire drills/lockdowns.

    Perform other related duties as assigned by administration (overseeing communal areas within the school, support in staff functions, maintaining inventory utilizing Access-IT software, etc.)

    Education and Experience

    High school completion

    Experience in a school office environment is an asset.

    Minimum one-year related experience in an office environment or completion of a recognized post-secondary certificate or diploma in office administration or its equivalent with successful practicum experience
