Position Summary
As a member of Anesthesia, the Respiratory Therapy Technician maintains and services Respiratory Therapy equipment.


Duties

  • Performing routine equipment assembly
  • Performing routine preventative and corrective maintenance/repair functions
  • Keeping track of inventory and ordering supplies
  • Maintaining adequate stock of respiratory supplies/equipment
  • Performing transportation functions
  • Cleaning/processing respiratory and/or anesthesia equipment
  • Performing crossfunctional and/or other duties as assigned or requested
  • Performing other duties consistent with the job classification, as required

Qualifications

  • At minimum, completion of high school
  • Completion of a recognized postsecondary Electronics Technician program or Medical Device Reprocessing/Medical Device Sterilization Program, preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year practical and related experience in a health care setting, working with respiratory therapy equipment, preferred
  • Experience with electronic supply ordering system, such as EREQ preferred
  • Computer proficiency
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and other relevant legislation, an asset
  • Knowledge of the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (W.H.M.I.S.), an asset
  • Knowledge of applicable Hospital and departmental policies, procedures, guidelines, protocols and practices, preferred
  • Standard First Aid/ Basic Rescuer Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (C.P.R.) certification, an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and collaborate as an active participant with others in assisting with the delivery of care to patients
  • Ability to perform responsibilities in a courteous manner
  • Ability to maintain and protect patient confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, an asset
