Responsibilities:

Assist teacher with planning, preparing, and implementing programs to meet student needs
Organize classroom materials, activities, equipment, and programs
Assist multidisciplinary team with the implementation of developmental strategies
Behaviour management
Provide a range of personal and physical care
Assist coworkers during peak periods and absences

Qualifications:

High School diploma plus certificate/diploma in an area related to early childhood education or special needs education, plus one year directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and qualifications
Knowledge of intervention techniques and strategies, first aid, CPR, and administering medication
Knowledge of Microsoft programs including Word, Outlook, and the internet
Ability to communicate with sensitivity, diplomacy, and tact is essential
Ability to effectively communicate in the English language both oral and written with the ability to develop and maintain communication with students, teachers, and specialists; fluency in French is an asset
Ability to travel to sites within Edmonton
