Job Summary:

Courseware, resources, evaluations, and daily lesson plans are provided in an Instructor Manual.

The Instructor is responsible for following the provided instructor manuals and using the resource materials to train students with the required knowledge and skills to prepare them for employment in the field.


Skills Required:


  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database systems
  • Excellent oral and written communication to present information in a way that students will understand as well as adapt to the different learning styles
  • Professional business attire and interpersonal skills to act as a mentor and role model
  • Online teaching (training provided, but computer skills are essential)
  • Must fulfill all the requirements of a Paralegal PC as per LSO
  • Excellent communication and organization abilities
  • Working knowledge and hands on experience with MS office
  • Experience in using legal database software
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Must be self driven in day to day tasks

Experience:


  • Minimum 2 years of hands on experience in paralegal teaching in a career college
  • At least 12 years of practice experience as a Paralegal or a Lawyer

Education:


  • Associate Degree/Diploma in Paralegal Studies is required

Qualifications

. Must be a Licensed Paralegal in good standing with Law society of Ontario

Job Duties:


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Demonstrate a thorough and accurate knowledge of the field
  • Instruct curriculum using only preauthorized and provided materials
  • Teach students using a diverse and systematic plan of lectures, presentations, demonstrations, discussion groups, laboratory work, case studies, independent or group projects
  • Administer and marks quizzes, assignments, exams and/or other assessments to monitor and evaluate students' progress according to guidelines and procedures
  • Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently and return student marks promptly
  • Provide feedback on student performance
  • Arrange feedback from students on the instructor, content, and facility at the end of each course
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to student needs and individual circumstances in a multicultural environment
  • Resolve student complaints and concerns with a positive and professional attitude
  • Maintain attendance records accurately
  • Assure that classrooms are left in a clean and orderly fashion at end of class without loss of or damage to equipment or other resources
  • Provide support to the admissions team with potential students who have questions about the program or future career
  • Participate in scheduled meetings and annual events like graduation
  • Maintain confidentiality of student privacy and information
  • Display an attitude of teamwork and problem solving
  • Perform other related duties as required
