MILL CONTROL ROOM TECHNICIAN


The Mill Control Room Technicians monitor and control the mill process, ensuring processing and production goals are achieved as well as providing accurate and detailed shift performance reporting.


The Mill Control Room Technicians maintain a safe and collaborative work environment with operators, maintenance, metallurgy, site services and mining personnel to efficiently deliver the production schedule in accordance with the integrated plan.

Gold is starting the recruitment process for Mill Control Room Technicians that will be hired in the second half of 2023.

Key Responsibilities

Area 1:
Mill Operational Efficiency.

  • Understand and follow all relevant policies and procedures for the safe and environmentally sound operation of the processing plant.
  • Interact with the system to monitor and accurately record operation of equipment statuses and other required shift reports or logs.
  • Maximize productivity and efficiency by the accurate and timely troubleshooting, correction and reporting of process or equipment issues.
  • Monitor compliance with set control parameters and identify operational variations and opportunities.
  • Work with team members in the field to reduce variance and exploit opportunities.
  • Prioritize competing demands.
  • Function as liaison in communication between the Mill Control Room, the Mine Control Room, and the field.
  • Ensure data integrity is maintained.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Area 2:
Operational Excellence.

  • Seek opportunities to improve mill operations (throughput, recoveries, reagent consumption, etc.)
  • Support the investigation of root cause for production short falls and deviations from plan.
  • Work collaboratively to troubleshoot and resolve problems.
  • Consider risk along the five dimensions (throughput, time, quality, sustainability, and cost).
  • Commit to continuous learning and improvement.
  • Continually seek to improve skill level as a Mill Control Room Technician.

Area 3:
Work collaboratively with others to deliver operational reliability.

  • Provide leadership and technical expertise to the various operators and stakeholders to support the successful achievement of the business and mill plan objectives.
  • Coordinate with other team members and departments on site to meet shift deliverables.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively using the tools provided.
  • Ensure equipment logs and shift logs are accurate and complete.
  • Ensure any deficiencies are communicated to the appropriate team members for followup in a timely manner.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary teams to deliver on commitments to the team, communities, the environment, and shareholders.
  • Mentor and train new team members.
  • Employees in this position must be willing to fill in as a relief Supervisor when required.
Qualifications


Minimum Requirements and Nice To Haves
minimum qualifications, formal education, certifications or equivalents

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • College diplomas or university degrees in a related field such as process engineering technology or metallurgical technology considered an asset.
  • Mill MTCU module U3406 Operate Control Room is considered an asset
  • Ministry Supervisor Training is considered an asset.
  • Exceptions may be sought as required.
Work experience - Nature & Length

  • 3 or more years of experience in mill operations.
  • Previous exposure to control room operation will be highly regarded, but not essential.
  • Experience with Aveva system platform is considered an asset.
  • Experience with Osisoft PI is considered an asset.
Additional qualifications - Competency requirements

  • Advanced computer literacy.
  • Excellent communication skills (radio, verbal and written).
  • Ability to work under pressure and have sound judgement.
  • Sounds knowledge of milling fundamentals.
