Reporting to the Manager, HRIS and Payroll, the Payroll Analyst is responsible for data entry and auditing activities related to regular and off-cycle payroll processing as well as reconciliation and payment of non
- regulatory remittances.


With functional support from the Senior Payroll Analyst, the Payroll Analyst performs data maintenance functions and audits information between the hospital's human resources information systems and external systems.

With support from the Senior Payroll Analyst, the incumbent plays an integral role in the efficient delivery of payroll by preparing data files, investigating and resolving discrepancies and exceptions, and completing remittances and reconciliations.

The incumbent also ensures compliance with current legislation and policies in respect to payroll to ensure entitlements and obligations are communicated efficiently and comprehensively.


The Payroll Analyst offers support to the Human Resources teams by investigating and responding to employee inquires and escalating to other levels of the payroll team as required.

Regular Full-Time

Rate of Pay:
$27.34 per hour - $34.18 per hour

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week


Qualifications:


  • Successful completion of a twoyear diploma in Business (Payroll or HRM) or equivalent acceptable to the hospital
  • Successful completion of a bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, BA Administrative and Commercial Studies, Management and Organizational Studies (BMOS) preferred
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation with the Canadian Payroll Association required
  • Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) designation with the Canadian Payroll Association or Certified Employee Benefits (CEBS) designation or Pension Plan Administration Certificate (PPAC) preferred
  • Minimum 1year experience in Payroll or Benefits required
  • Demonstrated proficient mathematical aptitude
  • Demonstrated welldeveloped problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills as appropriate for the needs of the audience
  • Advanced attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time in a deadline sensitive environment with strong organization skills
  • Advanced experience with PeopleSoft Payroll for North America (preferred) or other payroll systems
  • Experience WorkBrain (preferred) or other time and attendance systems
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with HOOPP systems
  • Demonstrated experience with Plan Administrator Benefits system
  • Demonstrated advanced experience with Excel and proficient experience with Word, Adobe Acrobat, Power Point
  • Proficient experience with Web ROE Software
  • Advanced experience using PeopleSoft HRIS, queries and crystal reports
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Expertise in payroll administration and sound knowledge of payroll legislation
  • Advanced knowledge of benefits and pension administration
  • Ability to function well independently and as part of a team
  • Performs accurate data entry into HR and thirdparty systems within applicable deadlines
  • Advanced ability to follow detailed procedures accurately and consistently
  • Advanced ability to establish and maintain effective systems for the management of data and documentation
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC

Immunization Requirements:

Before beginning employment at LHSC, all new hires will be required to:
