Purpose:


Markham Campus (MC) will embed York University in the heart of one of the most diverse and dynamic urban communities in the province and country.

Reflecting the local economy, academic programs and research will revolve around the core themes of technology and entrepreneurship and how they are driving innovation across all areas of knowledge and society.

Challenging the traditions of what a university campus can offer, Markham Campus will act as a unique meeting place for students to interact directly with employers, start-up companies, and community partners from across York region.

The Educational and Employer Partnerships team champions career development across the student life cycle, nurtures relationships with employer and industry partners, and facilitates valuable work integrated experiences for students to accelerate professional development.

The team collaborates closely with colleagues from the Division of Students, Associate Vice President Teaching & Learning, and relevant Faculties to promote a distinctive student/employer experience at Markham Campus Reporting to the Director, Educational and Employer Partnerships, under the leadership of the Executive Director, Strategy & Administration, the Manager, Educational and Employer Partnerships role drives and supports industry/community outreach and work integrated learning activities while providing impeccable customer service to partners.

This dynamic role requires business development experience and the ability to drive experiential education specific development of programs launching at Markham Campus.

Since each program has specific experiential education requirements, the role is responsible to meet new sector-specific business targets. The role ensures that partnership opportunities are maximized, and as a key priority.

The role develops new partnerships, builds on existing employer relationships, and identifies opportunities for research, funding, community engagements and experiential educational experiences.

The role supports the University's commitment to equity, diversity, respect, and integrity, and works to create an environment where individuals are treated based on their merits, abilities, and potential.


Education:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.


Experience:


4 years related experience, demonstrating a proven track record of business to business/corporate sales, client/account management, delivering presentations, and negotiation.

Experience working in a large complex organization.
Experience working and engaging with senior management, at external firms, in a sales capacity.
Experience writing/preparing agreements and reports.
Experience with CRM software use.
Marketing and sales experience is an asset.


Skills:

Knowledge
Knowledge of experiential education and work integrated learning.
Effective understanding of the post-secondary education sector.

Knowledge of federal and provincial policy and incentives with respect to experiential education funding structures to assist employers with hiring and training.

Ability to effectively build relationships, negotiate, influence, and manage expectations and change in a complex environment.
Effective team player, able to work collaboratively with colleagues across the University and externally.
Effective networking skills.
Effective presentation skills.
Effective initiative, organizational and time management skills to consistently meet deadlines.
Able to work under pressure and constantly changing priorities.
Effective people management skills.

Note:
Requires verification of degree(s)/credential(s).

Normal office environment.
May be required to work extended hours to attend networking events.
Travel may be required to attend employer on-site meetings, conduct check-ins with students, and attend community events.

Compensation:


York's CPM Compensation Framework has a salary grid consisting of 6 or 8 steps (depending on job grade) which is reviewed annually with possible adjustments, and a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.

Employees will receive the grid adjustment and depending on performance, eligible permanent employees may move to the next step of the grid and may receive a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.
